Counselling & Psychotherapy in Waterlooville & Online

“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen” - Brené Brown

Welcome, I’m Alanah/Ally, an experienced and qualified counsellor. I work from a confidential therapy room in Waterlooville, as well as online. I am an Individual Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and fully insured.

As you have found my website, you might be looking to take the next step in getting help with your wellbeing, you might want to make changes in your life, or maybe you need someone to talk to in a safe and confidential space. I believe that therapy can help everyone, no matter who you are or what you have been going through. Life can throw challenges your way, but I believe counselling can offer many options to help you, not only to cope and recover, but also to thrive. I offer one-to-one, 50 minute sessions at a pace set by you. Please see below for more information on how I work.

People begin their counselling journey for many different reasons. You might be feeling stuck or on the verge of a life change, you might be needing space to talk through difficult experiences in your life, or you might find yourself reliving the same patterns and want to change. You may be noticing traits about yourself which align with neurodivergence such as ADHD, Dyspraxia or Autism (whether formally diagnosed or self-diagnosed) and want to explore this in a safe and affirming space. You also might be wanting to learn more about yourself and deepen your personal experience on life’s journey. Whatever the reason, I can be here to go on this journey with you and offer you a safe and non-judgemental environment to explore these things.

My Services - How Counselling Can Help You

  • Life Changes

Life can be unpredictable and throws many different stresses and changes our way. Having a safe, non-judgemental space can help build resilience and move yourself forward.

  • Low Mood

Feeling low, deflated, self-critical or isolated can make life feel hopeless and monotonous. Through sharing those experiences free from judgment and finding hope from within, counselling can support you to feel more connected with yourself and life again.

  • Self-Acceptance

Do you sometimes feel like you don’t know who you are or what you want in life? That others’ judgments impact your self-esteem and choices? Counselling can help you to understand yourself and connect with yourself in a more compassionate way.

  • Neurodiversity Affirming

Being neurodivergent (ADHD, Dyspraxia, Autistic, etc) in a world set up for neurotypical people can bring many stressors, impacts to self-esteem and lead to masking who we really are. Neurodivergent traits do not need to be ‘fixed’ or ‘changed’ and exploring this in a safe and affirming space can help you face challenges and gain understanding.

  • Trauma

Sometimes whilst moving through life, traumatic events or situations can happen, which can make you feel vulnerable and unsafe. Through greater understanding and within a safe environment we can process the trauma and begin to move forward.

  • Abuse

Abuse can come in many different forms and affects many aspects of your being. Counselling can help you to build your self-esteem, work through the things that have hurt you, put boundaries in place and feel empowered to break the cycle.

  • Bereavement

Grief can feel like a lonely place, with everyone experiencing loss in a different way. Having a safe space to talk about your experiences can help you to grow around it.
